Olympus Repairs in Canada

My OM-D East-M1 mk1 shutter simply started sticking recently and and I'd like to get information technology repaired.

Has anybody gotten any Olympus repairs done in Canada recently? The website says the repair centre is airtight (temporarily) and I haven't heard back from customer service nevertheless.

Thanks for whatever help you can requite me.

Expert comment.  I doubtable this is the beginning of the end.  It'southward also why I won't spend another penny on anything Olympus.  Lenses in my experience last a long time and rarely need to exist repaired, although these electronic marvels are not almost as reliable as the old mechanical ones.  Cameras on the other hand, again, in my feel, get "ill" fairly oftentimes and if y'all tin can't get information technology repaired (and tin can't find an independent shop that has the parts) then y'all are stuck with a bunch of very expensive newspaper weights.

Panasonic has a poor reputation for customer service, but for now they are the only game in boondocks I think. I just hope all the Olympians start spending money with Panasonic to keep the format alive.

IMO Pansonic cameras are very relaible. I accept 6 Panasonic cameras (not very good at selling camera gear), starting with the G1 from 2009, no problems with any of them.

I accept recently learned that the GM5 sometimes has problems with the rear dial failing (mine is OK), but  that'due south the only Panasonic photographic camera I have seen with such an effect.

Panasonic service in Canada is actually reasonable. I pointed out an event with thier parts supply and they stock-still that within a couple of weeks, in the midst of the COVID pandemic.

I've been on the debate about buying a copy of the  Olympus 300mm F4, I think I'chiliad going to stay on the fence a while longer.

I've sent cameras and lenses for repair in Canada in contempo years, and they were never performed past Olympus.  A 3rd-party (forgot the proper noun) does it.

If that repair middle is currently closed, it has nothing to practise with events in Japan.

I'll be amazed if the cost of repair is less than the cost of buying a near pristine used re-create off Ebay.

Olympus does not practise repairs in Canada. Olympus repairs are handled by Trinitek located in Mississauga.

However, there is a major problem with their web site. All I get is a blank screen. If you google Trinitek and click on the website button, you are taken to a drug store.

This has been happening for well over a twelvemonth and has never been resolved. I reported this hither on this forum way dorsum then and also to Trinitek.

Trinitek does exist and will fix your camera but they decline to sell parts.

Tin can yous provide the link?

I only took my equipment into Henry'south Camera and they packed and shipped it for me.  Repairs took nigh vi-8 weeks (prior to covid).  Price is at least $300 for a major repair, and then it's usually cheaper to repair PRO gear, and supplant consumer gear.

Remember to strip out all accessories (lens, bombardment, SD carte du jour, etc) before bringing in.

I have had repairs done a few times past Trinitek for Oly equipment.  In all cases, it was washed correctly and quickly.  Very happy with their service.

So far then skillful

two

  • Chosen Trinitek Electronics in Mississauga (905-820-7018).  They answered right abroad and said no problem.  They told me I should get a Service Order Number from Olympus Canada to ship in with the camera
  • Chosen the Olympus Canada number for Service and Repairs.  Got a Service Rep right away and he walked me through the process - very helpful
  • Filled out the online service request and printed out the Service Order to include with the camera which I'll effort and get shipped out tomorrow.

All in all, it's been good so far.  Trinitek had indicated the repair turnaround is 7-10 business concern days unless they need to order parts so we'll see how it goes
